This is a good idea
Kathleen Edwards gets it. Not only is she a talented musician, she clearly understands that a credible “celebrity” needs to put her money where her mouth is when supporting a “cause”.
I’ve worked with enough musicians to know that most of them consider themselves “the cause”. Although I don’t work with Kathleen Edwards, it’s clear to me that she saw the bigger picture, above and beyond herself, when the time came to promote her upcoming album “Asking For Flowers,” which is out on March 4th.
She’s donating a fully loaded iPod with her full catalogue on eBay and all proceeds go towards the Alica Ross memorial fund though Project Canoe.
The eBay bidding ends tomorrow (Feb.26 @ 6:05pm) and it’s already up to $1035.00!
For her earnest efforts: we see her, the blogosphere sees her, Apple sees her (on good authority) and her credibility remains intact.
Unfortunately, there are too many good causes that need support in the world. Even worse, there are too few people out there willing to support them.
Good call Kathleen. Good luck with the release.
A radical do.
